Divers’ Catch Gala to Celebrate BC’s Dive-Harvested Seafood with Top Chefs and Community
Showcasing the Flavours and Sustainability of BC’s
Geoduck, Sea Urchin and Sea Cucumber

Richmond, B.C. – With just one month to go until the inaugural Divers’ Catch Gala, anticipation is building for an unforgettable evening celebrating British Columbia’s dive-harvested seafood. On Saturday, September 20, 2025, The Deck at Radisson Blu in Richmond will transform into a showcase of geoduck, sea urchin, and sea cucumber — delicacies sustainably hand-harvested by BC divers.
The gala brings together an all-star roster of chefs, seafood distributors, dive harvesters, and food lovers to highlight the remarkable bounty of our coastal waters. Emceed by Lien Yeung, guests will enjoy creative tasting plates, meet the divers who harvest by hand with no bycatch and minimal ocean impact, and discover why supporting BC dive fisheries has never been more important.

A Turning Point for BC’s Dive Fisheries

For decades, BC’s dive-harvested geoduck, sea urchin, and sea cucumber have been prized exports, particularly to Asia. But recent tariffs have cut incomes for harvesters — including many Indigenous fishers — by as much as half, exposing the vulnerability of relying on a single global market.
The solution is diversification, starting here at home. While the industry builds new markets abroad, domestic awareness remains low. Most Canadians have never tried these unique, local delicacies harvested in their own waters. The Divers’ Catch Gala aims to change that, inspiring consumers, chefs, and distributors to support BC dive fisheries and ensures more of the economic benefits of these multi-million-dollar fisheries stay in BC.
