Road 13 Vineyards' Marsanne Awarded Platinum at Wine Align's National Wine Awards
Medal Wins, Fall Wine Dinners and Wine Club Exclusives
Oliver, B.C. - Road 13 Vineyards raises a glass of Platinum award-winning Marsanne to celebrate the coveted accolade at the June National Wine Awards of Canada which has been managed by Wine Align since 2013. The Golden Mile Bench winery is elated with a platinum win amongst the 15 medals awarded through blind tastings by a panel of twenty-one judges from eight provinces. Road 13 Vineyards' 2017 Marsanne is now recognized in the top 1% of wine in Canada with the Platinum award in the category of Other Single White Varieties. The 2017 Marsanne is a blend of 94% Marssanne, 4% Roussanne, 2% Viognier, is pale gold in colour and has an exotically complex nose made up of Asian pear, white peach, quince, apricot, and mandarin orange peel, in addition to notes of honeysuckle and white flowers. The overall impression is of a wine that is complex, full and rich, but with elegance, delicacy, and impeccable balance. The Marsanne pairs perfectly with seafood and shellfish, spicy Asian food and lighter meats. Held annually in June, the National Wine Awards of Canada (NWAC) are only open to wines grown and produced in Canada. The goal of 'The Nationals' is to expose Canadian wine drinkers to the best in Canadian wines. With no price restrictions each winery has the opportunity to compete with the best wines in the country. This year the awards were held in Wellington, located in the Prince Edward Country wine region in Ontario, and saw 1,815 entries from 259 different wineries spanning eight provinces. Road 13 Vineyards was awarded platinum for the 2017 Marsanne. Fourteen additional medals were awarded to wines within the Road 13 Vineyards portfolio of red and white wines including one gold, four silver and nine bronze. Road 13 Vineyards was recognized as a Top 12 winery in Canada and Top 10 in British Columbia.
